Notes

Beit Duqqu Development Society, a nonprofit charitable organization, was established in 1987 by a group of active youth in the village who saw a need to address the economic challenges faced by the village. Over decades, expanding Jewish settlements, settler-only roads, and the Separation Wall have completely encircled the village. As a result, large areas of the village’s agricultural land, a vital source of livelihood, have been lost to settlement use.

The society sells jewelry designed by village women and operates a food production unit that makes and sells jams and dairy products.

Before the Israeli occupation, the village used to prosper from agricultural export to the Gulf states and its close proximity to Jerusalem.
